Your Trades Clients.Sorted.
Graftly isn't accounting software. It standardises the job-to-invoice data so you get clean exports into whatever you use.
Get your builder, plumber, or sparky clients organised before they walk through your door. CIS and VAT worked out on every invoice. A monthly pack for your desk.
You know the feeling.
THE NIGHTMARE SCENARIO
March every year, up and down the country
It's March. Your phone rings. It's Dave the bathroom fitter.
"I've got my stuff for you, mate."
He walks in with a Tesco bag stuffed with receipts, a WhatsApp screenshot of a quote, and some numbers scribbled on the back of a fag packet.
The problems you face:
- • The CIS is wrong
- • Labour and materials are lumped together
- • The VAT doesn't reconcile
- • And now MTD is looming...
This is what we're fixing.
What you get now
- Tesco bag of receipts
- WhatsApp screenshots
- Manual CIS calculations
- VAT that doesn't match
- 3 hours to sort each client
What you could get
- Clean CSV export
- Proper invoices with PDFs
- CIS worked out on the labour
- Sales VAT that matches the invoices
- 15 minutes to review
What if your trades clients showed up organised?
Three things that make your life easier, every single year.
CIS on Invoices
Labour vs materials. Always separated.
Every quote, every job, every invoice. We track labour separately from materials and work out CIS on the labour, at 20% for registered subcontractors. The 30% and gross payment rates are being built.
- Labour tracked separately from materials
- 20% for registered subcontractors (30% and 0% in build)
- Verification numbers stored per subcontractor
VAT on Sales
Every sales VAT figure comes from an invoice.
Each line rounded to the nearest penny, one of the methods HMRC allows. VAT on sales matches the invoices. 20% standard, 5% reduced, 0% zero-rated. Purchases are not in the VAT figures yet.
- Each line rounded to the nearest penny (VAT Notice 700 para 17.5.1)
- Sales VAT matches the invoices
Digital Records for Your Desk
MTD for Income Tax started in April 2026 for income over £50,000, and reaches £30,000 in April 2027. Most trades clients are not ready.
Graftly does not file with HMRC. It keeps your clients' invoices and receipts digital today. A quarterly file for MTD software is being built.
- CSV summary export
- Invoice PDFs and receipts in one pack
Built for UK tax. No American workarounds.
We don't try to be everything to everyone. We work out CIS and VAT on invoices for UK trades and keep the records digital. Here's what works today and what's being built.
"Labour vs materials. Always separated."
We work out CIS on the labour only, on invoices to CIS contractors, at 20%. The 30% and gross payment rates are being built.
Fully implemented and in production

"Clean digital records. You do the filing."

From van to accountant. One pack, no shoebox.
Every invoice, receipt and expense is captured digitally in Graftly and handed over in one pack: invoice PDFs, receipts and a CSV summary. No photocopies. Import files for accounting software, and a VAT file for bridging software, are being built. Until then your accountant works from the pack.
"Digital Link Handover"
Today: Graftly pack → your accountant → HMRC. Coming: a file your accounting or bridging software imports, which keeps the digital link Making Tax Digital needs for VAT.
Before vs After
The transformation your clients (and you) will experience.
Will your clients actually use it?
The biggest fear accountants have is recommending software that clients won't touch. Graftly is built differently.
Works Offline
Because basements and rural sites don't have WiFi. No signal, no problem.
WhatsApp-First
Tradespeople live on WhatsApp. We meet them there with proper record-keeping.
Dead Simple
Quote in the van before you drive home. Invoice on site. Get home on time.
Your clients don't want more software. They want to go home on time.
Graftly helps them do that.
Not another American import telling us how to do UK tax.
Built in Britain
By a UK founder who understands CIS, MTD, and the panic of April tax deadlines
UK tax first
Not an afterthought. VAT, CIS and digital records built in from day one
Accountant-designed
Consulted with real accountants serving trades clients
No surprises
What you see in the export is what the client sees in the app
You don't pay

No - Graftly is for the tradesperson. You get clean exports that work with whatever software you use. Or you can use our data directly.
Nothing. Your clients subscribe (£25-49/month). You get clean data for free.
No. Graftly does not file anything with HMRC and is not HMRC-recognised software. It keeps your clients' invoices and receipts digital and gives you a monthly pack with a CSV summary. Import files for Xero and FreeAgent, and a VAT file for bridging software, are being built. You stay in control of the filing.
We can import their data. And if they switch to Graftly, you get better data going forward.
Partly. CIS is worked out on labour only, before VAT, at 20%. The 30% and gross payment (0%) rates, and returns for traders who pay subcontractors, are being built. Check CIS figures before you rely on them.
Absolutely. Download our sample Accountant Pack - includes sample VAT return, CIS report, and year-end export.
We can't fix the past, but from day one with Graftly, everything is clean. New year, fresh start.
Yes. Book a 15-minute walkthrough and we'll show you exactly what your trades clients will see.
It's built for how tradespeople work. Offline-first for sites with no signal. WhatsApp integration because that's where they are. Dead simple because they don't want more admin.
Importing a file keeps the digital link; copying figures by hand does not (VAT Notice 700/22 para 3.2.1). Graftly's VAT file for bridging software is not ready yet, so until it is, don't file VAT from Graftly's figures.
